Position Overview/ Duties

  • Perform ambulatory and inpatient procedures and direct patient care under credentialed-provider supervision.
  • Recognize medical emergencies and monitors patients for distress/acuity changes; escalates to providers as needed.
  • Manage patient intake in MHS Genesis; verifies eligibility, updates records, and transcribes physician orders per SOP.
  • Assemble and maintain health records; prepares charts, files results, and safeguards patient confidentiality (HIPAA).
  • Handle reception and scheduling; answers phones, books appointments, and manages no-shows/reschedules per policy.
  • Maintain a clean, safe environment and equipment; practices universal precautions and reports safety/security concerns.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes conducting intake procedures/assessments; recording patient data in electronic medical records systems; and obtaining vital signs. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
