Position Overview/ Duties

  • Assist in preparing appeals and rebuttals to coordinates the assignment of Soldier's legal counsel.
  • Coordinate appropriate referrals related to benefits.
  • Provide advise on the necessity of obtaining sufficient documentation (medical and non-medical) concerning the Soldier's ability to perform military duties and the severity of the Soldier's disease or injury.
  • Refer personnel to appropriate agencies to obtain counseling/guidance on benefits.
  • Coordinate with the Installation Judge Advocate General, Soldier's unit, and Human Resources (HR) to resolve medical separation verses administrative separation of enlisted and officer personnel.
  • Update the appropriate databases as cases progress through the Physical Disability Evaluation System (PDES).

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) providing administrative support within a healthcare delivery system; 2) coordinating evaluation appointments; 3) assist in counseling military personnel who are currently in the Physical Disability Evaluation System process ensuring individuals completely understand all phases of the process. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree with a major study in hospital administration, public health administration, or related fields such as business or public administration with course work in health care administration. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.
